Looking for an easy chocolate recipe? Okay, with the current situation nowadays. Even the not-so-chef and not-so-bakers had their own shares with the cooking and baking. I myself made so much and was able to enjoy it. I love cooking and making desserts but working from home with kids is never easy.

There were many days that I have to really manage my time well or I will be dead. (lol) Luckily, Since my husband started working from home I have all the help I could get with him and my eldest. And so I started baking again.

I told them that since they can’t stop eating like there’s no tomorrow. They need to help me (talking about win-win here lol) So here’s my own version an easy chocolate recipe I got from Sarap Channel. I gave it a little twist of my own, And you can try this one too.

Don’t be fooled by the steps. Once you started making it it’s actually super easy. Please bear with me as I’m no pro. Enjoy!

an easy chocolate recipe

Dry Ingredients

1 cup all purpose or cake flour

1/2 cup cocoa powder ( I used dutched-processed but you can use whatever suits your taste)

1 and 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

Liquid Ingredients

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup evaporated milk

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/2 tsp vanilla essence

3 Eggs

Chocolate Frosting Ingredients

150 ml Whipped Cream

Two teaspoons Cocoa powder or any chocolate bar of your preferences

One teaspoon sugar/ sweetener (depends on your preferences)

1/2 tsp vanilla essence

Cooking Process

  1. Add all the dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly and set aside.
  2. Beat the eggs and add all the liquid ingredients. Mix them well.
  3. Pour the dry ingredients with the liquid ingredients in three small portions. And using a whisk. Mix well until smooth.
  4. Divide the batter into three equal parts. This will serve as the three layers of your cake.
  5. Preheat your pan to medium heat.
  6. Grease the pan with a bit of oil
  7. Pour the first batter and cover the pan.
  8. Then, let it cook for 6 to 8 minutes. or until the cake is done.
  9. Prick the cake with a toothpick, The toothpick should be clean if it’s done. If not, wait for a minute more or when the toothpick is clean after pricking it.
  10. Do the same with the two more batters left.
  11. Let it cool and set aside.
  12. To make chocolate frosting and filling, Just add all the frosting ingredients together and mix it using a mixer or hand mixer would be fine.
  13. Then, wait till it’s thick enough. That’s about more than a minute. Set aside.
  14. Place the three layers of cake and using any round guide (plate, saucer, lid) Cut the edges using your guide to make an even round cake.
  15. Place the first layer and evenly moist the cake with simple sugar syrup.
  16. Simple sugar syrup (Pretty easy to make it’s basically sugar and water combined you can google it to find out how)
  17. Then add enough frosting to make a chocolate filling,
  18. Do the same with the rest of the layers.
  19. Finally, cover the rest of the cake with frosting. And, top it with chocolate shavings and dark chocolate chunks just like I did. Or you can just leave it be, You can top it with whatever toppings you like. Like nuts, strawberries etc.

This may be one of the fastest and easiest ways to make. A stove-top, range, cooktop, electric, or whatever kind you have at home you can easily make this delicious cake.
