Wondering how to make money on Pinterest? Let this interview guide you. But before that, I have to tell everyone about this awesome lady that I recently met online. I have to admit that I’m a big fan of this gorgeous lady but too shy to talk to her because I’m really the shy type in real life (really! lol)

That feeling when someone you’ve been looking up to and in awe on how she became successful in the blogging industry, replied to you and realized how kind and very down-to-earth she is. Exhilarates me like to the nth level. And can’t wait to share it with you.

And just very recently how she helped me with my blog traffic after Pinterest suspended my account (the nightmare!) in more than a week by mistake which tanked my traffic to zero. Que horror!

If you are still in doubt whether you will start a blog or not, let her answers give you the confidence to finally decide. As she also provides you with the perfect way to get that massive Pinterest traffic fast.

Can you tell me something about yourself?

I’m Anastasia, I’ve been blogging for about 2 and a half years now, and before that, I worked as an online marketer in digital agencies. I have actually three degrees (in linguistics, translation, and an MSc in Global Marketing.

In a day, all of them help me do what I do and all my background, including my previous jobs, kind of brings me to the place where I am now. I made a shift in my mind and don’t consider my blog as a hobby or a side hustle.

It’s an online business that brings me all I could dream about – the fulfillment of doing what I like to do, how I do it (being my own boss in yoga pants working on a sofa), and the income which I could never achieve if I kept on working corporate jobs.

I live with my husband and our dog in Portugal. We love having long walks along the beach and doing random weekend trips to the beautiful villages and towns in Portugal and Spain.

When and why did you start your blog?

I started my blog anastasiablogger.com in the middle of February of 2017. It was the first time I tried blogging and honestly, I had no idea what I was going to write about and how I was going to make money with it. I learned everything along the way.

I had no idea what I will blog about, that’s is exactly the reason why I used my first name in the domain name. I started picking the niche by reading income reports. It appeared to me that bloggers that had the most impressive income reports, were blogging about how to start a blog and make money online.

So that was the type of content that I published in the first 6 months. Later I started experimenting with holiday-related topics to increase Pinterest traffic. Then I realized that it’s easier to drive traffic from Pinterest with recipes, home décor, DIY, holiday-related topics. And started adding these categories to my site.

Aside from running the business, do you have another job?

I was working full time for the first year and was blogging in my free time after work and on weekends. It was a pretty tough year in terms of life and work balance but it was totally worth it and I was very motivated to quit my day job!

Ever since I quit my day job by the end of the first year blogging, I didn’t need to search for a job, blogging replaced my full-time income and opened to me the world of online entrepreneurship. My dream life became a reality.

Is your business purely home-based or do you have an office? A digital nomad? What are the advantages of being home-based?

I work at home and don’t rent an office. I don’t consider myself a digital nomad either because I have a permanent home in Portugal, and since I moved to Portugal, my travel bug left me. I don’t enjoy traveling as much as I did, maybe because I totally fell in love with Portugal and just don’t feel like leaving this place for a long time.

The advantages of working at home are obvious – you can take a break when you need it, you can save time on commute and transport expenses, you always feel comfortable, which improves productivity. Plus, you can eat healthy cooking at home, and don’t need to spend much on eating out. I literally work most of my time from my living room couch on a laptop.

But if you have kids or a big family, working at home can be challenging because of all the distractions. In that case, working in your living room is probably not an option, it would be really worth creating an isolated office space to be productive.

Why do you think blogging is one of the best business to start?

Blogging is an amazing way to start making money as a side hustle if you don’t have any other online business ideas. There is a ton of information available online for beginner bloggers which makes your journey so much easier.

You don’t need to make a big upfront investment to make blogging work – you can start a self-hosted blog for just about $3 a month. Another great thing about blogging is that it gives you multiple monetization models to choose from.

Are you an introvert and hate selling things? Just add advertising to your site and write great content, and you’ll get a stable income online without ever having to talk to a client or sell a thing to anyone.

How do you balance your work life at home and family?

Great question, I think I don’t balance them well, to be honest. I don’t have kids yet, so, for now, I allow myself to work most of the days from 9 AM to 10 PM (with lunch and dinner breaks, plus I often cook at home, so that adds up some time away of my laptop).

Also working on weekends, but usually not that many hours. I absolutely enjoy the comfort of working on my sofa, and spending more time with my family and my dog, and being able to schedule doctor appointments, visiting friends whenever I want, even if it’s in the middle of the working day on Wednesday – it’s up to me!

I currently choose to work more hours than I would probably work at my 9-5 job, but I also can choose to take a break at any time. And I know that the extra working hours help me build a solid foundation of passive income which I might need to use in the future.

Financially, has this business been rewarding?

Blogging has brought me to the monthly income goals which I would never ever be able to achieve as an employee – that I know for sure. As a business owner now, I have an understanding that my income opportunities completely depend on me and my efforts, I virtually have no limits of growth. This feeling itself is priceless.

When I quit my day job, in that first month as a full-time blogger, which was by the end of my first year of blogging, I received about $1500 from Mediavine ads on my blog. Ever since blogging income keeps impressing me.

If you are reading this and thinking that all the bloggers who make real money, have to sell courses and teach others how to create blogs, I can tell you that Mediavine ads have been my main income source for almost 2.5 years now. It’s mostly the content that is popular on Pinterest, like healthy food, home décor, holiday ideas, etc. I currently make on average about $4000 only with ads on my site.

If you are thinking about starting a blog and you are not sure about the niche, the domain name, not sure what to blog about, you are probably procrastinating on this for long enough to give up. Don’t try to calculate all the pros and cons, don’t try to research and learn everything before you start doing the thing. Just start it and you’ll learn everything in the process as everyone does.

There is no university that will teach you all things about blogging or online entrepreneurship. Any successful blogger goes where he or she is now, by making things happen, learning through trial and error, self-education, taking courses, finding their strong skills and delegating things which are not their favorite.

Blogging involves a lot of stuff but doesn’t get trapped by the fear that you’ll not manage to learn it all. At some things, you’ll definitely be better than the others, and those skills and talents will get you to your goals.

Final Thoughts:

Anastasia is the author of Pinterest SEO Traffic Secrets It’s the most in-depth Pinterest Course that I’ve ever tried. Well, I know that there are tons of Pinterest courses nowadays. But after getting into her course. I’ve never looked back.

Why? The course has EVERYTHING you need to know. From start to finish. Although I already have an idea about Pinterest traffic because of the ebooks I bought before.

I still get those “A-ha!” moment. That’s the reason I know that this interview will help a lot of people who want to get serious in their blogs, business, etc. And know how to make money on Pinterest.
